All most the big day then a break

Yep, the time is almost here, after 60 happy years my old folks are finally being kicked out of their council house but as stated earlier are being re-housed in a brand new house.

It has been a hard few weeks, with sorting this and sorting that, I must haver a million pound mobile phone bill but in the grand scheme of things this is nothing. As long as they are happy and in the new property then it has all been worth it.

Basically it is like trying to move yourself with no available time.

The house they are leaving was my home for 24 years so I too have many memories, some happy, some sad. The area they currently live in has turned into a rough hole with all the people you would not want living in your street living there. You know the type, been re-housed more times than they care to mention. My mom and dad are the only people in their street paying full or any rent.

This is the old house and street I grew up in:

Ok! it does not look too bad but you would not want to spend your holidays there.

These houses are 1947 post WWII steel prefabs, built for ex servicemen.

So, on Friday 25th 2007 they are moving, lock, stock and two smoking barrels, there will be several family members there to help them on their way. Be there Saturday as well then on Sunday it is away we go. That is myself and Lyn to the Lake District for a week, can’t wait. We are staying in Portinscale which is virtually next to Keswick. The hotel grounds run onto Derwent Water, really beautiful. Third time in this hotel but it is a good base for exploration.

Click >Here< for some photos taken last year (2006) and some from May 2007.

Then in August the big trip to Canada and Alaska. Probably send you a postcard or post pics on blog.

Photos

As well as using this blog I have my own website which I am building, albeit slowly. So you can imagine how much time this takes.

For anyone interested I also use Flickr. There are quite a few photos on their now of me in various bands which you have probably already seen.

I have now started uploading holiday photos (boring maybe). These will mainly be of the cruise holidays myself and the good lady have been on. Latest (well the first ones to be uploaded anyway) are Aegean and Adriatic Cruise 2006.

Catch Up Time

Not blogged for a while.  Main Reason is WORK.  Been working some strange shifts but yipee back on my normal shifts now.  Still up at 5.00 in the morning but that is what travelling 50 mile there and 50 miles back does for you.  Oh yeah, and I am half pi****.

It’s been an interesting few weeks. One of the things that has taken up so much time, apart from work is my mom and dad.  They are due to move to a new house on 25.05.07. They have a council property and have been living their for 60 years, the powers that be have decided to pull their house down and re-house them.

Quite traumatic as you can imagine.  So we (Lyn and myself) have been trying to organise the move, you know, packing, sorting out other things that you do when you move.  A lot of time has been spent doing this.  It is amazing how much stuff you collect over the years.

My dad is 97 and does not welcome a move at his time of life.  There are so many memories associated with where he and my mom live but mom is totally up for a change.

I will also be sorry when the property is bull dozed, I too, have many memories there, some happy, some sad.

We have been for a few walks over the Chase, right on our doorstep and we have completely overlooked the the beauty of this place.  i think we may have stumbled on a rock star or footballers pad over there,  probably Robbie Williams as he was looking for a pad near to here.  The house we saw is enormous and overlooking a lake, gorgeous, ok ok just a little jealous.

So, it’s time to go but I will now be able to continue hosting my personal spot on the web world and bleat or be happy with what is going on. Here is a photo of my dad in his back garden enjoying what is left of his time there.  At least they are moving to a cleaner quieter area.  When they moved there it must have been like a tiny oasis but over the years the scum have taken over.
