Mike had his oily day (see Jangle Jangle). I had my cruddy day.
Ok, I was about a mile away from work today, that is after the usual 50 mile one way trip, when 6 cars decided to have a bonding sesssion (ouch the insurance) a few hundred yards in front. This left me in somewhat of a dilemma.
A. Do I stick it out
B. Do I turn around and find an alternative route.
Well, unfortunately for me I chose the latter (B). There was a Jag in front of me that happened to belong to one of the other consultants where I work. He turned his car around and headed back the other way. So, I thought to myself ,this guy knows where he is going, (Hi Ken). Big mistake, I began to follow and about 20 miles later I arrived at work about an hour late. Seems Ken was not quite so sure where he was going and after an interesting trip up hill and down dale I finally reached my destination.
During the trip, my car encountered some dirt, well a bucket full from Ken’s wheels spinning in some crud down a country Lane. The left front light has now disappeared under a turd like mass which I believe may take several years to remove, thanks.
The moral to this story is, IF IN DOUBT, STICK IT OUT.

I had a similar incident this morning. The A5 was blocked, and so I took a moment to ponder the situation.
To be honest, I ignored your advice, turned round and went a different way…. without further incident.
So clearly, these situations need careful consideration because no two cases are the same.

I did not say my advice was the best advice, therefore in this case your judgement was good. The comment was “if in doubt, stick it out”. Clearly you were in no doubt as to your actions and therefore I bow to a wise decision.
Just think, if I or you had been on our bikes, there would be no issue, so there is clear evidence here that 2 wheels are sometimes better than 4.
